Thomas Rhett’s Original Career Choice

If Thomas Rhett’s mother had gotten her way, he’d be a doctor or a lawyer. That was the path he was on when he first entered college. But even when he was in class supposedly studying kinesiology, he was actually writing songs. His dad, singer and hit songwriter Rhett Akins, always knew Thomas would go into the family business, but Thomas wasn’t quite sure.

“Growing up it was one of those things. If your dad was a firefighter or a cop, you’re probably going to do that or you are going to go the opposite direction, For me, Dad sings and Dad writes, so I just go find something else to do.”

Lucky for us country music fans, Thomas chose the family business!
