If you’ve been watching the men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament, you’ve likely watched/heard about a kid playing for the University of Tennessee, Dalton Knecht. Turns out he’s a Colorado kid!
Sadly, Dalton and his team fell short of the Final Four, losing this weekend to Perdue, but Dalton will likely be drafted in this summer’s NBA Draft.
Knecht grew up in Thornton, Colorado, and attended Prairie View High School. He then went on to play his first two college seasons at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado before transferring to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for two seasons.
Knecht decided to utilize the extra year of eligibility granted to college athletes who played in the 2020–21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and entered the NCAA transfer portal. He transferred to Tennessee for the 2023–2024 season, was named SEC Player of the Year by both the league’s coaches and the Associated Press (AP). He was also named SEC Newcomer of the Year by the AP.
Many experts think the Colorado kid could be a top-10 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft!
