Some people spend their Halloween picking out the perfect costume. Others pay to lie down in a coffin and get “buried alive.” If you’re in the second group, the Frightmare Compound in Westminster has the ride for you.
The Frightmare Compound calls itself Colorado’s oldest haunted house, and this season it has a coffin simulator. The haunt says it lets you feel what it’s like to be buried alive. According to the Frightmare Compound, you’ll experience “the mental and physical state of your coffin falling deeper into the earth while you’re still breathing.” The haunt asks visitors one question before they climb in: “Can you handle the pressure?”
If one coffin isn’t enough, the Frightmare Compound has more. There’s the main haunted house, mini escape rooms where you try to get away from an infamous serial killer, and a monster museum. This year’s new additions are Frightmare Town and a 1950s trailer-park scene, because nothing says “terror” like a haunted mobile home. There’s also a coffee shop for anyone who needs “something strong enough to wake the dead.”
Tickets start at $39.99 for general admission. VIP is $54.99, Immediate Access is $69.99, and Elite All Access is $99.99 for people who want to skip the line and go straight to the screaming. The haunt is open select nights through Nov. 7, so check the calendar before you go. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so expect big crowds on Oct. 31.
