Formerly Paralyzed Colorado Teen Walks In 5K Fundraiser Race

Jun 13, 2023, 3:04 PM

It had been a couple of years since Noble Haskell had enjoyed the feeling of crossing the finish line on the track. This past weekend, the former all-star runner from Aurora, Colorado, ran his first race since he was paralyzed in a car accident in the summer of 2021.

After the accident, doctors weren’t sure if Noble would ever walk again, but there was never any question in his mind. He knew and vowed from the beginning that he would not only walk, but eventually be able to run again.

After two years of grueling rehab and hard work, the teen was able to walk across the stage at his recent high school graduation.

Then on June 10th, at an event to help raise money for his ongoing treatment, Noble got a chance to get back on the track. Along with around 350 participants, there to support him, he took an unassisted walk across the finish line.

And his mom Krisi Hantke, who never doubted her son would recover, was there at the finish line with open arms. “That’s Noble,” she says, “The grit, the determination that Noble showed throughout his life but especially during recovery.”
