Feeling lonely? Study says Denver one of the loneliest cities in country

Denver, CO – Feeling lonely Denver?  Well if you are, you are not alone as a new study by ChamberofCommerce.org puts Denver in the top 30 of loneliest cities.

Coming in at #24, the list has Denver having 334,942 households and exactly 40% of them (134,131) are one-person households.  

The top 5 cities on the list were #1 (Washington DC (48.6 %), Birmingham (48.2%), St. Louis (47.5%), Atlanta (47%), and Cleveland (46.2%) 

Throughout the country, the amount of Americans who were living alone grew by over 1.1 million people. 

While living alone does not necessarily equate to being lonely, no question many face loneliness and if you are in that boat, Psychology Today has 18 ways to overcome loneliness including some of the following:  

  • Practicing self kindness
  • Don’t be afraid to talk to strangers!
  • Spend money on experiences
  • Volunteer
