It seems like everyone is on weight loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy these days, but around four in 10 adults over age 20 in this country are obese and one in 10 are severely obese. Here in Colorado, we are doing much better, though!
WalletHub crunched the numbers to find the “Most Overweight and Obese States in America.” They rated each state and Washington, D.C. on 31 key metrics related to obesity and overweight prevalence, health consequences and food and fitness. These include the share of overweight and obese adults and children, number of adults with high cholesterol and diabetes, obesity-related death rate and fast food restaurants per capita.
So, which state is the most overweight and obese? West Virginia, where 42% of the adults are classified as obese and another 31% are overweight.
The least obese and overweight state is Colorado, followed by Utah and Massachusetts.
