A family in Grand Junction, Colorado, is preparing Thanksgiving meals for truck drivers who will be on the road for the holiday.
When Kandi Roy learned that her truck driver husband would be on the road for Thanksgiving for the first time, she and her children decided to bring holiday meals to the truck stop instead. With permission from a local Love’s Truck Stop, the family plans to serve full turkey dinners with handwritten thank-you cards.
Their goal is to serve at least 200 truckers passing through the area or parked along nearby routes. Kandi says they want to show appreciation for the work truckers do, noting that we all rely on them for everyday supplies and goods. The gesture is meant to help drivers feel seen and valued during a time when many are away from home.
To support the effort, the family launched a crowdfund to help cover the cost of food and supplies. Community response has been strong, with donations and homemade items coming in from supporters. Kandi says that the encouragement is helping them turn the idea into a reality, allowing them to provide a holiday meal to as many truckers as possible.
