Thousands of Colorado drivers get speeding tickets at this Longmont intersection. 95% of them are heading east.

Jul 30, 2026, 9:33 AM

Okay, Longmont drivers, listen up — because this one might sting a little. And not just in your feelings.

Thousands of drivers have been ticketed at the intersection of Ken Pratt Boulevard and Main Street this year, with speed enforcement cameras generating over $200,000 in revenue. Yes, you read that right. Two. Hundred. Thousand. Dollars.

And here’s the kicker — most of those citations are going to eastbound drivers, which has some folks raising eyebrows harder than a mom catching her kid sneaking extra screen time.

Driver Greg Braun is among those questioning whether the whole thing is even fair, pointing to the location of the speed limit sign as a possible culprit. Basically, drivers may not know they need to slow down until it’s already too late. Sound familiar? Kind of like telling your kids the rules after they’ve already broken them.

Here’s where it gets a little messy — the City of Longmont and CDOT can’t seem to get their stories straight about whether that sign placement might actually change.

Braun and fellow frustrated drivers are pushing the city to take a hard look at what’s happening out there and make things more consistent.

Because nobody likes a surprise ticket. Nobody.

Stay safe out there, Denver. And maybe slow down — just in case.
