Mountain Dew offers $1 million reward for submitting verified proof of Bigfoot’s existence

If you’re mapping out the most Colorado way possible to begin a million-dollar Bigfoot hunt, you might as well start at the Sasquatch Outpost in Bailey, where the vibes are already equal parts mountain gift shop, cryptid command center and “wait, did that tree just move?” From there, the adventure heads into official territory: Hard Mountain Dew has launched its Bigfoot Bounty, offering $1 million to the first adult 21 or older who can submit verified proof that Bigfoot exists. The hunt is open now through November 30, right in the middle of peak fall sighting season, when cooler weather, soft ground and increased wildlife activity apparently make it easier to track something that has been politely avoiding cameras for decades. 

To be considered for the grand prize, entries have to include at least four of seven types of evidence, including a 37- to 38.5-inch footprint, a 13-inch handprint, thermal footage of a seven- to nine-foot-tall heat signature moving 20 to 25 miles per hour, hair with unknown DNA markers, unexplained audio, environmental remnants or the always helpful Bigfoot cameo photo. Submissions will be judged using standards codeveloped with Bigfoot expert Bryce Johnson, and even if nobody manages to turn Sasquatch into a confirmed neighbor, 100 fans who submit evidence can still win $20 to cover the cost of a pack of Hard Mountain Dew. So yes, your fall road trip can now include a stop at the Sasquatch Outpost, a serious discussion about hair follicles, and the very slim but beautiful possibility that your blurry vacation photo could become the most financially important photobomb in Colorado Cryptid history!

P.S. Go full Bigfoot detective if you must, but please do not bother Colorado’s actual wildlife while chasing a possibly fictional roommate in the trees. Disturbing dens or nests, harassing wildlife or letting a dog harass wildlife can carry real consequences in Colorado, including fines, because “I thought it was Sasquatch” is not exactly a legal strategy with legs.
