IKEA is opening a new smaller-format store in Colorado

Sometimes you simply need a coffee table or nightstand and don’t need the maze that is IKEA. Their new concept about to open in Colorado will likely help with this issue.
The new location in University Village off North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs will serve as a unique shopping experience where customers can plan their home upgrades, browse options, and place online orders with the help of IKEA team members. Referred to as a “plan and order point with pick-up,” the new location is one of many new format stores that IKEA said will expand how customers can shop and increase accessibility of the brand by bringing the products to the customers.
It’s significantly smaller than the location IKEA opened in Centennial in 2011. That store, the chain’s first and only in Colorado, spans 415,000 square feet.
Customers are unable to take products home that day, but IKEA workers can arrange for delivery or schedule orders to be picked up from the on-site pick-up location. Online shoppers will also have the option to pick up qualifying orders by selecting the “IKEA Colorado Springs at UVC” as their preferred pick-up location at checkout.
