Somedays I feel like I could survive for three weeks just chilling on the couch, but stuck inside of it sounds a lot less comfortable…
A Colorado family is celebrating the return of their beloved cat after she survived three weeks trapped inside a couch during a cross-country move. The Hanson family, who relocated from Washington to Fort Carson, searched desperately for their cat, Sunny-Loo, before leaving, unaware she had hidden inside their hide-a-bed sofa, which was later wrapped and stored by movers.
When the furniture finally arrived weeks later, the family was stunned to hear a meow coming from inside the couch.
Despite spending 21 days without food or water while being transported more than a thousand miles, Sunny-Loo was found alive but weak. Emergency veterinarian Dr. Erin Dixon treated the cat and says her survival is a medical mystery and a true miracle.
Sunny-Loo has quickly regained her strength and returned to her place as an emotional support animal for the family’s 12-year-old daughter, Hannah.
The Hanson’s hope their story will encourage others not to give up on lost pets. Deeply moved by the experience, Hannah now believes in miracles, while her father, Andy, sees it as a lesson in perseverance. Following her ordeal, Sunny-Loo is happy and healthy, enjoying her ninth life with the family that never stopped loving her.
