It’s not just kiddos who love a good Christmas story… Turns out shelter animals do also, and you can make that wish come true for them this holiday season in Denver.

The Denver Animal Shelter announced the return of its annual “Bedtime Stories” event. Scheduled for Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 18-19, this unique event offers volunteers the chance to read bedtime stories to shelter pets while supporting a good cause.

For a $20 donation, families can book a time slot to read to adoptable dogs and cats. The event begins with 15 minutes of holiday card-making, where participants craft personalized messages to brighten the animals’ kennels. Reading sessions are offered in two evening time slots, 4:30-5:30 p.m. and 5:30-6:30 p.m. Guests can also enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.

Sign up for a time slot here.

If you can’t make it this month, the event will also be back in February to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
