Drought Buster on the way? Big rain possible in Denver this week

The Summer of 2026 in Denver will be remembered as one of the hottest and driest on record, resulting in much of the state facing some form of watering restrictions due to the intense drought.
A big dose of relief could be coming this week as a “possible drought-buster” could be coming Tuesday through Thursday bringing several inches of rain throughout parts of Colorado.
That relief could also be a temporary dangerous headache as the National Weather Service has already enacted a Flash Flood watch for Douglas and Elbert Counties.
The potential deluge of rain would be the result of a low pressure weather system from the north combines with what’s left of Hurricane Polo from the south.
This could potentially be the biggest rain event in Colorado since 2023, a year when Colorado had one of its wettest on record with almost 19 inches of precipitation that year.
