You Can Now Get Your Starbucks Drinks in Your Own Cups at Colorado Locations

Jan 3, 2024, 5:17 PM

If you have a favorite or lucky coffee mug, you can now get your Starbucks drink served in it in Colorado.

Over the years this option has been available, but only if you went inside a Starbucks store. Now they’re adding a reusable cup option for drive-thru and app orders.

If you go through the drive-thru, you just have to tell the person taking your order that you have your own cup. If you use the app, there is now a “personal cup” option.

Patrons using their own cup also get a 10-cent discount, and members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program get 25 “bonus stars.”

There are a few rules of course… The brought-from-home cups must be clean, and baristas won’t rinse them out for you. Mugs and cups can’t be larger than 40 oz., either. Starbucks workers will prepare the drinks in a large shaker, “that has standardized lines” indicating various sizes. So they aren’t filling your giant mug full of Caramel Macchiato, you get the same amount you’d normally get, just poured into your own mug.
