With winter bearing down on us in Denver, drive-in movie theater season is over, but thank goodness it doesn’t seem to be over for good!
You may remember a few years ago, Denver’s last drive-in theater announced it was closing for good. Yet it keeps reopening, and 2026 doesn’t seem to be any different.
The 88 Drive-In in Commerce City posted to Facebook last month, “Closed for the Season. Winter is the Reason See you in the Spring of 2026!.”
The theater has been open since 1972, and in 2023 they announced they were closing to make room for a large warehouse. There’s been no official comment about the future of the project by the theater, but they keep blessing us with the good news of reopening.
The 88 Drive-In Theatre opened for the 2025 season on May 9, but there’s no word on when the 2026 season will start.
