Bandimere Speedway was the premiere drag racing track in Colorado for 65 years, just northeast of Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison. The Bandimere family decided to close the legendary track after the 2023 season, and will eventually relocate. But wat will happen to the old track?
While the final plans for the old track are still in progress, Copart, an online auto auction company, submitted applications for a proposed annexation, zoning and rezoning of the 125-acre site. Morrison town board members accepted the application on Tuesday, May 21.
According to the accepted application, after the speedway is annexed, Copart plans to use part of the area for its operations.
The area will be an online vehicle auction center for the sale of motor vehicles to institutional, commercial and private owners of used, undamaged or damaged vehicles, trailers, watercraft, powersports and industrial and construction equipment.
There’s still no word on where the new Bandimere will be located.
