WATCH – Man steals cop car in Denver, goes for naked joyride

The Commerce City Police Department shared some of the highlights of their more than 300 calls from over the weekend, and one that the department described as “truly bizarre.”
Overnight Friday into Saturday, a man allegedly crawled under a gate into the department’s secured parking lot and managed to get inside and steal a patrol vehicle. He then took the police vehicle on a joyride before he was stopped by police while driving around the Commerce City Civic Center.
When police got him out of the vehicle, they discovered that he was not wearing any clothes. In the body-worn camera footage shared by police, the man appeared to be holding a piece of cloth or a flag over his waist area.
He was arrested on the spot and was immediately taken to the Adams County Jail on charges of:
- Third-degree motor vehicle theft
- Second-degree criminal trespass
- Driving without a license
