Happy 31st birthday to the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic – Star says he plans to ‘play for a long time’

Feb 19, 2026, 4:39 PM | Updated: 4:39 pm

On the birthday of the greatest player to ever play for the franchise, Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets may have gotten the best news they’ve received in a long time!

Jokic, who turned 31 today (Feb. 19), is notorious for indifference to the sport of basketball. He tends to get his most excited when talking about his home country of Serbia and racing his horses there. This has lead many to believe that he would likely retire from the NBA early, but not so fast…

In an  interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Jokic opened up about the length of his career. “To be honest, I think I’m going to play basketball until I can play on a high level,” Jokic said. “Because I enjoy it and I love to play. I’m going to play until I can perform on a high level and still enjoy it and still be healthy.”

I feel like this guy can play at a high level until 40 at least, so sign us up for another 9 years of the Joker in Denver?
