WATCH – Colorado lawyer refers to judge as “honey” during trial
Jun 26, 2025, 4:30 PM
I know very little about law, and I certainly would’ve flunked out of law school, but I do know that calling a judge honey is likely frowned upon. A lawyer in Colorado did not get that memo…
The classic moment of courtroom cringe happened at a courtroom in Denver. While attempting to make oral arguments in a sexual assault case, the lawyer for the prosecution called Judge Elizabeth Harris “honey.”
In the video, the lawyer immediately realized his horrendous error in courtroom protocol and is clearly thrown off by it. What’s amusing, though, is watching the judge in the middle of the three-judge panel, who can clearly be seen smiling and wanting to laugh at the “honey” misstep, but catches herself as she realizes the environment she was in, as well.
You can see the mishap here…
I need all of #lawsky to see this video from a Colorado appeals court livestream yesterday. I am in actual tears. Sound *incredibly* on, the subtitles will not help.
