University to offer “influencer” degree

Jul 27, 2026, 12:29 PM | Updated: 12:39 pm

While once a job profession many with what would at one time be considered “regular” jobs would scoff at, the title of “influencer” may also now be backed up with a college degree!

Arizona State University will be offering a Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation degree which it says will “prepare you to become an influencer and strategic story teller” and some of the skills it will help teach you will include “multimedia production, social media strategy, audience analytics” and more.

The creator economy has grown to being valued at almost $500 billion just this year and many studies show its a role that over half of Gen Z adults want to do.

Its an industry that, as Exchange Wire notes, has seen an increase in influencer marketing investment of 171% year over year despite uncertainty in many other economic industries.
