There’s a kangaroo ranch in Denver and you can do yoga with them

There are a lot of ways to spend a Saturday morning in metro Denver. Hiking. Brunch. Farmers market. But doing a downward dog while a 10-month-old red kangaroo named Joker hops across your yoga mat and nibbles a treat off the floor next to your hand? That’s new.
The Kangaroo Ranch, tucked into a studio at 4910 Iris Street in Wheat Ridge, is exactly what it sounds like, a place where you can hang out with kangaroos. Owner Keaton Crawford spent five years collecting local, state and federal permits to open the operation after her family’s Zoo Chateau in Golden closed during the pandemic. Crawford, who fell in love with kangaroos as a college kid helping at her family’s zoo, says her obsession started with watching Steve Irwin’s “The Crocodile Hunter” as a kid. The ranch officially opened in early 2025, blew up on TikTok, and has been selling out weekend events ever since.
The main draw is kangaroo yoga, a 45-minute flow class where the roos roam free around the room, lured toward your mat by strategically placed treats. There are also meet-and-greet sessions, bottle-feeding experiences with baby joeys and even visits to local retirement communities. When they’re not working the room in Wheat Ridge, the kangaroos live on a 54-acre ranch in Brighton. Crawford says the Colorado climate actually works well for them because red kangaroos are used to extreme temperature swings in the Australian Outback. “I don’t think I have seen anybody walk out of here without a big smile on their face,” she told Westword last year.
Tickets for yoga start at $85 and are available through Eventbrite. Meet-and-greets and bottle feedings are also bookable online. Fair warning: sessions tend to sell out fast, especially on weekends.
