Denver’s Church Nightclub is turning into a horror movie you can drink in this Halloween season

You know how in every horror movie, the characters always do the one thing you’re screaming at them not to do? Walk into the dark room? Answer the ringing phone? Split up from the group? Well, The Nightmare Bar is asking you to do all of that, on purpose, while drinking themed cocktails inside a converted cathedral. And it sounds incredible.
The Nightmare Bar is a 90-minute immersive Halloween pop-up experience taking over The Church Nightclub at 1160 Lincoln Street in Denver’s Golden Triangle neighborhood from Oct. 8 through Oct. 31. If you’ve never been to The Church, the venue itself is already unsettling enough, it’s housed in a historic former Episcopal church with high-beamed Gothic architecture, stained glass windows and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like something is watching you even on a normal night. Now add candlelit parlors, mysterious masked strangers lurking in the shadows, payphones that definitely should not be ringing, a haunted TV and horror-inspired interactive challenges where your choices drive the narrative, and you’ve got yourself the most on-brand Halloween experience in Denver.
This isn’t just a bar with fake cobwebs, it’s an interactive challenge. You navigate themed rooms, solve clues, answer mysterious phone calls and encounter things you probably wish you hadn’t, all while sipping on devilishly themed cocktails and snacking on spooky bites. Between the scares, there are killer photo-worthy sets and horror-inspired installations throughout the venue. The 2026 edition has been upgraded by a brand-new creative team, and costumes are strongly encouraged.
Tickets start at just $14, which includes a welcome drink, and sessions run Thursdays and Fridays at 7 and 9 p.m., Saturdays at 5, 7 and 9 p.m., and Sundays at 5 and 7 p.m. It’s 21+ with valid photo ID.
