The jack-o’-lanterns will barely be out the door, and Santa is already on his way. Bass Pro Shops in Loveland is starting the Christmas season early with Santa’s arrival on Saturday, Nov. 7. He’s skipping the sleigh this year and pulling up on a red pontoon boat.
The free outdoor party starts at 5 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops, 5945 Bass Pro Drive in Loveland. Kids can get their faces painted, try an inflatable archery range, take hay bale rides, play yard games, go on a scavenger hunt and make crafts. Local food trucks will be there too. The Loveland Fire Department will join the parade, and afterward Santa will light the store’s Christmas tree. There’s also free hot chocolate and popcorn, and kids get a free mini reindeer plush.
Santa is staying past opening night. Starting Sunday, Nov. 8, the store becomes “Santa’s Wonderland,” a Christmas village where families can visit Santa and get a free 4×6 photo plus a shareable video. Reservations are free and open Sunday, Nov. 1, at basspro.com/santa. If you want a good time slot, it’s worth booking early.
Yes, it’s early. Some of us will still be working through the Halloween candy on Nov. 7. But free hot chocolate, a fire truck parade and Santa on a boat make a pretty good argument for starting the holidays a little ahead of schedule.
