When I was younger, I may have gotten banned from a golf course for doing donuts in a golf cart, but I am not a professional golfer, so no big deal. Wyndham Clark is a pro, one of the best out there actually, so him getting banned from one of the most famous courses in the world is a little more newsworthy.
Clark, who is from Denver, has won some of the biggest tournaments out there including the U.S. Open. But now he’s making headlines for what he did in the locker room at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.
Golf Digest obtained a letter that club president John Lynch sent to Oakmont members this week about the incident during last month’s U.S. Open, when Clark smashed up his locker out of frustration. Media were not allowed in the locker room, but a photo was leaked and went viral.
Now Clark won’t be allowed back at Oakmont Country Club until he pays to fix the locker he damaged and gets counseling for his anger.
The next time Oakmont is to host the U.S. Open is in 2033, and Clark has reportedly agreed to pay for the damages.
