Netflix dropping its cheapest ad-free subscription

Jul 22, 2024, 12:51 PM | Updated: 3:36 pm

If you’re trying to watch your favorite Netflix shows like Cobra Kai or Stranger Things, and do so commercial free, you’re options will be getting more pricey as Netflix will be dropping their cheapest ad-free $11.99 a month plan.

That plan had already been phased out in the U.K. and in Canada and soon the same will happen here in the United States.

Moving forward Netflix will have a $6.99 ad supported plan, or a $15.49 standard HD plan with no ads, or a Ultra HD option for $22.99.

So far their changes in subscription plans have not shown to have a negative impact on their bottom line as they have had their third consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth.

Some other subscription plans out there include:

  • Hulu:
    • Ad-supported $7.99 a month
    • Ad Free $17.99 a month
  • Disney+:
    • Ad-supported $7.99 a month
    • Ad free $13.99 a month
  • Disney+ / Hulu Duo Bundle
    • Ad-supported $9.99 a month
    • Ad Free $19.99 a month
  • Paramount Plus
    • Ad-Supported $5.99 a month
    • Ad Free (with Showtime) $11.99 a month
  • Apple TV+
    • $9.99 a month
