Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade WILL happen Saturday despite snow – Here’s the details

Sure, Denver is about to get a ton of snow, but the good news is that it will likely stop on Friday morning giving crews and Mother Nature time to cleanup and have a big St. Patrick’s Day parade on Saturday!

On Saturday, March 16, the 62nd annual Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade will march through lower downtown. The parade will go on rain or shine, and the parade committee said they have been assured by the city of Denver that the plows will be working to clear the roads ahead of the parade.

The parade committee also confirmed that the “Changing of the Signs” ceremony will still happen at noon on Thursday at the corner of 20th Street and Blake Street where it will be turned into Tooley Street. However, if the snow is heavy, the ceremony will be moved inside Jackson’s Lodo.

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown Denver. The route for the parade, the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade west of the Mississippi, begins at at the corner of 19th and Wynkoop, turning left on 17th Street to Blake Street, marching east on Blake and before ending at 27th and Blake at the Coors Field parking lot.

Parade organizers recommend attendees arrive early to get a great spot along the parade route and to prepare for the cool temperatures at the start of the parade by dressing in layers.

Organizers said the best spot is south of 20th Avenue on Blake Street. This is probably the most crowded area of the parade and is standing room only as some people will arrive as early as 6 a.m. to stake out a spot. The Coors Field parking structure will be available for parking at 27th and Blake starting at 7 a.m. The parking structure is available for free on a first come, first serve with no reservations available.
