One of the greatest spectacles in sports is the soccer’s FIFA World Cup, and the women’s tournament could be headed to Denver in just a handful of years!
According to FIFA, Denver is among the U.S. cities included in the U.S. Soccer Federation’s bid to host the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Denver’s bid calls for games at Empower Field at Mile High, which has a significantly higher seating capacity than the soccer-specific Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City or the planned stadium for Denver Summit FC.
The U.S. proposed a joint bid with Mexico, Costa Rica and Jamaica to host the 2031 tournament.
Other potential American cities include Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Salt Lake City and San Francisco/Bay Area.
FIFA will evaluate potential hosts based on criteria, including infrastructure. Hosts will be chosen by the 75th FIFA Congress in Vancouver on April 30, 2026.
