Could Casa Bonita Be Secretly Opening on Cinco de Mayo (May 5th)?

Apr 28, 2023, 2:42 PM

Let me start this article by saying I have no personal inside info, and honestly have no idea when Casa Bonita will reopen, but hear me out here…

We do know the South Park guys who bought Casa Bonita have said the restaurant will reopen sometime in May. That’s all we know for sure. However, in some other interviews, they’ve also noted that they realize there will be a ton of people who converge upon the iconic restaurant. So logistically, it makes no sense to announce the actual open date and cause chaos in the area. Therefore it’s fair to assume that the opening date will be a surprise, and likely sprung upon us as it happens, right?

Next Friday happens to be Cinco de Mayo, the day Mexican culture is celebrated most in the U.S., so it seems on paper like the perfect day to reopen a Mexican restaurant. There have also been a few rumors floating around on social media that leaked info says that’s the date, although I believe what I read on social media as much as I trusted a toot after eating the old Casa Bonita food.

Still, it makes a lot of sense to me, so I am going with it… A surprise opening next Friday, May 5th. If you have extra time on your hands, show up early that morning to get in line. If I am right, you’ll be one of the first in before complete mayhem begins. If I’m wrong, you’ll have wasted a day standing at a shopping center on Colfax, which sounds terrible, honestly. The choice is yours…
