Colorado city bans pet stores from selling dogs and cats

A new law, known as Sammy’s Law, was voted in unanimously in Greeley on Tuesday. The law bans the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores and public places.
The Greeley Police Department says the new ordinance prohibits retail stores, such as pet stores, from selling, delivering or offering the sale or adoption of dogs and cats in the city limits of Greeley. The law also bans the sale and giving away of dogs and cats in public places such as streets, sidewalks, medians, parks, recreation areas, outdoor markets, outside of shops and businesses and parking lots.
Violation of these laws is a misdemeanor and subject to punishment.
