Coloradans have a week to book flights that come with free bags on Southwest Airlines

For many of us, the main reason we flew Southwest Airlines out of Denver International Airport (DIA) was the two free checked bags that came with a basic fare. They say all good things come to an end, and that’s the case next week for the free bags on Southwest.
The airline announced in March that starting May 28, 2025, it will eliminate complimentary checked luggage for most customers as the airline begins to roll out major changes, including an eventual end to its unique open seating policy.
Travelers who want to secure flights with Southwest’s free bags must book their tickets before the May 28 deadline, regardless of when they plan to travel. Any reservations made on or after that date will fall under the new, more restrictive policy. After that, only passengers who purchase the premium “Choice Extra” fare will receive two free checked bags.
While Southwest hasn’t disclosed specific bag fee amounts, industry standards suggest travelers could pay between $25 and $50 per checked bag after the deadline passes.
So in other words, book any future travel you have planned NOW!!
