The days of checking in 24 hours before your flight to get that A boarding class will soon be over for Southwest Airlines as they will be shifting to assigned seating.
The airline which had open seating since it launched will begin charging a premium for some of its seats as well as begin offering overnight “red-eye” flights for the first time.
Southwest Airlines says that it is its customers who have been requesting it, but a quick look on Twitter/X shows many customers not being happy with the decision.
Southwest Airlines has ended the “open seating” policy.
They will now offer seats for a fees. You will have to pay for good seats.
This is end of an era. A beautiful airline destroyed by greed.

as a loyal Southwest customer, I hate this.
the whole reason I fly southwest is bc it’s cheap & I can pick my seat!!!
If you don’t like it, fly on a different airline 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/A88lvRYz9Z
