The world famous Blue Angels don’t get to Colorado often, but they’ll be in our state this summer, and better yet, they’re taking someone for a ride!

The Navy’s Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron, a flight showcase team known for tight formation flying in fighter jets, will be visiting the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow on Aug. 17-18 in Colorado Springs.

The Blue Angels’ Key Influencer program offers area residents who positively impact local youth the chance to take to the skies in one of their Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornets.

A “key influencer” is defined as a person who helps “shape attitudes and opinions” of young people in their communities, including teachers, coaches, school board members and group leaders, according to airshow officials.

They say good examples of local community Key Influencers include: university presidents, area organizers of youth athletics, society award winners, school board members, high school principals, coaches, and leaders of diversity groups. Elected officials, freelance reporters, and photographers are NOT eligible.
Anyone over 6-foot-6 and/or 265 pounds is not eligible. Nominees who are pregnant or have heart trouble will also be disqualified. A physical examination is required within 30 days of the scheduled flight, officials said.
If you or someone you know in Colorado qualifies, make your nomination here.
