Beyond The Badge – Police Explorer Colton Bowman
Jan 31, 2017, 9:18 AM
The Explorer Scout program gives young men and women ages 14-20 the chance to learn about law enforcement as a career. This week, we salute Police Explorer Colton Bowman of the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
Officer Rezac of the Wheat Ridge PD had stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the stop the right rear passenger began to try and retrieve something from the floorboard between his feet. This action was observed by Police Explorer Colton Bowman who was on a ride-along. Explorer Bowman made officers aware of the actions of this passenger and the male was removed from the vehicle. Once the male was removed from the vehicle Explorer Bowman immediately observed a handgun in the area where the male was reaching and alerted officers of the firearm. The suspect turned out to be a convicted felon was also in possession of several homemade keys and had multiple arrest warrants. The suspect was processed at the PD and jailed on the warrants and released pending new charges after consulting investigations.
We’re proud to honor Officer Rezac and Explorer Colton Bowman – for going – Beyond the Badge.
