Avery Anna stopped by the KYGO Performance Studio to perform “Indigo,” “it’s just rainin'” and “Blood Runs Thicker.”
Born and raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, Anna was encouraged by her mom to start singing in church as a young girl, and she complemented her singing abilities by teaching herself how to play guitar. She was writing songs by the time she hit double digits.
The “Blood Runs Thicker” singer earned her stardom in true COVID fashion: belting out songs in her mom’s bathroom – where the acoustics were best in the home – to save herself and others from pandemic-induced insanity. Anna was only 17 at the time of her virality, and she didn’t yet have solid plans for her future.
Luckily, the Arizonan didn’t need to.
Her most popular video in her bathtub-singing series has amassed over 11 million views (a cover of “Say Something” by A Great Big World). Shortly after finding internet fame, she was signed to a talent manager and song production agreement. It didn’t take long for her to hightail it to Nashville – not to mention this all happened before she was a legal adult.
Being no stranger to success, Anna has already checked off several sizable feats off her bucket list: performing at the Grand Ole Opry, winning an ACM award and earning a Cheyenne Frontier Days belt buckle.
After signing with Warner Music Nashville, Anna performed at the Grand Ole Opry in September 2022; she won the award for New Female Artist of the Year at the 61st ACM Awards, which she was surprised with by her frequent collaborator Sam Barber during her performance at the Lone Star Smokeout festival in Arlington, Texas; and she got her buckle when she opened for Blake Shelton during the 130th rodeo in July of 2026.
It’d be easy to say the rest is history, although that isn’t entirely true – Anna is only 22 and just getting started.
Anna’s most recent EP, “forgive, forget.,” features “Blood Runs Thicker,” a rock song she says is representative of the direction she’s taking her music, at least in the near future. Her rock influences stem from listening to Ozzy Osbourne with her dad “in a truck going way too fast down a dirt road.”
Aside from “forgive, forget.,” the 22-year-old has released two albums and another EP: “Breakup Over Breakfast” (2024), “Let Go Letters” (2025) and “what made you think?” (2022).
