Daylight Saving Time: Because We Weren’t Tired Enough Already
Mar 6, 2026, 8:24 AM
Most of America is about to “spring forward” this Sunday, and I’m here to tell you that losing that hour of sleep isn’t just going to make you want to throat-punch your alarm clock. It can actually mess with your health!
So here’s the deal: darker mornings plus lighter evenings basically turns your body clock into that one friend who’s always 45 minutes late to brunch. Your internal system gets completely out of whack, which means you’ll be sleeping like garbage for weeks. WEEKS. And get this — studies show there’s actually a spike in heart attacks and strokes right after the time change.
But don’t worry! There are ways to make it less terrible, like getting more sunshine to reset your circadian rhythm. So basically, we need to go outside.
Your brain has this “master clock” that runs on sunlight and darkness — it’s like a 24-hour cycle that tells you when to be sleepy and when to pretend you’re a functional human. This is also why your toddler pops up at 5:47 AM like a deranged rooster, but your teenager acts like noon is basically dawn.
Anyway, see you all on Monday looking like we’ve been haunted.
