Is a Drake/Ella Collaboration Coming?
Aug 17, 2026, 10:45 AM
Country music’s queen of 2026 and hip-hop’s most prolific album-dropper may be cooking something up together, and frankly, nobody knows whether to boot-scoot or start throwing up diamond hand signs.
Sources close to the situation — and by “sources” we mean one unverified Instagram story and a whole lot of wishful thinking — suggest Ella Langley and Drake were spotted at the same Nashville recording studio last week. Neither camp has confirmed the report.
Then Ella posted a video of her singing to a Drake song. The clues are piling up. Then, Drake left a message under one of her posts that said “Goated Pen.”
The pairing would represent one of the more audacious genre crossovers in recent memory, a collision of cowboy boots and Canada Goose jackets that musicologists are calling “inevitably unhinged.”
Industry analysts note that Drake has never been shy about genre-hopping. His discography includes forays into dancehall, Afrobeats, house music and whatever “Toosie Slide” was. A country collaboration would merely complete the Infinity Gauntlet of Drake genres, sources said.
For her part, Langley has already demonstrated a willingness to collaborate broadly, recording duets with Riley Green and Morgan Wallen and performing a Fleetwood Mac cover on her Dandelion Tour. A pivot to rapping alongside a man who once sang “Started From the Bottom” while she sings about choosin’ Texas would, at minimum, generate the most confusing radio format meeting in KYGO history.
“Do we file it under country? Hip-hop? Do we just create a new button?” asked another unnamed radio professional. “We only have so many buttons.”
The collaboration, if it materializes, would pit two of the biggest streaming forces of 2026 against the only opponent that has proven capable of slowing either of them down: each other’s fan bases on social media.
