Shane Profitt | Performance Studio

Fresh off of CMA Fest and his engagement, Shane Profitt played “Population Me,” “Long Live Country” and an unreleased song entitled “You Could Do Anything” in KYGO’s Performance Studio. The performance marked the third time he sang the latter live, calling it “the most personal song [he’s] ever written,” noting it’s the first time he cried while writing a song.
Profitt’s career in country music seems to be the product of fate, having started with a Christmas gift in 2018.
Born and raised in Columbia, Tenn., the 25-year-old made his debut just three years ago in 2022 with his single, “How it Oughta Be” – which reached No. 16 on “Billboard” Country Airplay – having only learned guitar roughly four years prior. If his grandfather hadn’t given him a guitar for Christmas, it might’ve never been.
As serendipity would have it, he met country singer Chris Jason at a sushi restaurant, who ended up signing him to a songwriting contract and selecting him as his opener for his Halfway to Crazy tour. Even still, Profitt considers himself a songwriter before an artist.
Since then, the Tennessean made the transition from Big Machine Records to Triple Tigers Records, made official February 2025, and released his five-track EP, “Population Me,” Friday, October 10.
