Approval of route pilot program brings public transit to Red Rocks

Sure, you can get an Uber to and from Red Rocks concerts, but have you done it? It isn’t the easiest or cheapest thing, especially leaving shows and going into the heart of Denver. However, soon there will be a new option!

A few months ago, Jefferson County officials submitted an application for RTD’s third round of its Partnership Program, with the goal being to improve micro-transit services across the state.

Last month, it was confirmed that Jefferson County did receive thousands of dollars for this pilot program, meaning the Red Rocks route pilot program will run on weekend afternoons between Jefferson County Government Center/Golden Station and Morrison Natural History Museum.

This “fixed bus service” will include stops at Downtown Morrison, Matthews/Winter Park and Red Rocks Trading Post.

Travelers should expect the pilot program to kick start on September 20. Ultimately, the goal is to expand this service by May 25, 2026, and include concert and nighttime routes.

Currently you can book a public shuttle through the venue’s website, but it isn’t cheap either. The cost of a roundtrip ticket on the shuttle service to Red Rocks is $65 with four stops: Union Station, Colorado Convention Center, Improper City and Avanti.
