World’s largest steam train to make two stops in Colorado this summer

Train enthusiast or not, one locomotive that’s planning a couple of stops in Colorado is worth making some time to see.
The Union Pacific Railroad steam locomotive called “Big Boy No. 4014” is set to make two “whistle-stops” in Greeley this summer as part of its limited summer excursion.
The train will depart from Cheyenne, Wyoming, at 10 a.m. on July 17 and arrive in Greeley at 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The train will then depart Greeley on July 19 at 8:30 to 8:50 a.m. and arrive back in Cheyenne at 10:30 a.m.
The train will be accompanied by Union Pacific’s No. 1616 Lincoln Locomotive, which is the railroad’s newest commemorative locomotive, honoring Abraham Lincoln’s role in uniting the nation through rail and laying the foundation for America’s freight rail network.
25 Big Boys were built during World War II, and only eight survived. Big Boy No. 4014 is the only of those eight still in operation. It is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive.
