Where is the smoke in Colorado coming from?

Winds from the north are carrying smoke into the Denver area. Over the past few days, you may have noticed haze in the skies over Colorado — that’s due to wildfire smoke. The smoke doesn’t originate in Colorado, but rather is being pushed into our area by winds coming out of the north. The wildfires are burning in Canada, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
More than 3 million acres are currently burning in 33 fires in the Pacific Northwest.
Officials with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment said smoke high up in the atmosphere, stemming mainly from the Canadian wildfires, is expected across large parts of the state on Monday, combining with the fires from the Pacific Northwest and will impact Colorado’s air quality.
As the smoke enters the state, it is advised to limit time outdoors and outdoor exercise activities.
