Growing up in Colorado, it felt like it always snowed on Halloween, but it turns out it’s pretty rare, at least in Denver!
Based on National Weather Service records, it has only snowed 22 times in Denver on Halloween since 1882, leaving about a 12% chance of snow, historically.
In recent years it’s been even less… Denver has only seen trace amounts of snow in 2018 and 2007. The last measurable snowfall was on Halloween in 2002 with 1.2 inches.
2024 won’t be the year to break the trend either. Trace amounts of snow are possible on Wednesday (Oct. 30), but Thursday will be dry with expected highs in the 50s during the day. During the trick-or-treating hours, temperatures should be in the high 50s around 4 p.m., then, temperatures will drop to the low 50s by 6 p.m. Temperatures will continue to drop into the high 40s by 7 p.m., and by 8 p.m., temperatures will be in the mid-40s.
