WATCH – Bo Nix calls Tim Tebow his ‘childhood hero’ in must-watch Broncos interview

If you need any more proof that Denver is the center of the football universe right now, watch the Broncos’ latest “Jersey Swap” episode. In the 13-minute sit-down posted to the team’s YouTube channel, starting quarterback Bo Nix interviews the man he grew up idolizing, former Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, and the whole thing is basically a love letter to Denver football.
“I remember growing up, watching Tim Tebow all over the place,” Nix said. “He was my childhood hero, watching him playing for the Gators. I remember watching him throw the game-winning pass to DT in the playoff game against the Steelers. I always grew up watching you.” Tebow returned the admiration, recalling a moment during a televised college game when he told a national audience, “The name you’re going to remember is Bo Nix.” The parallels between the two are almost eerie: both played SEC football, both were first-round picks by Denver, and they’re the only Broncos-drafted quarterbacks in franchise history to win a playoff game.
When the conversation turned to those postseason wins, it became a Mile High magic greatest-hits reel. Tebow described the atmosphere at the old stadium the night he hit Demaryius Thomas on an 80-yard overtime bomb against Pittsburgh: “I don’t know that I’ve been in one where it felt like everyone was together as much as that night. People stayed for an hour after the game.” Nix countered with Denver’s overtime thriller against the Bills in January, the one where he broke his ankle on a QB keeper, stayed in the game, drew a 30-yard pass interference penalty on a deep ball to Marvin Mims and set up Wil Lutz’s game-winning field goal. Then walked around Empower Field afterward with zero limp.
Beyond football, the two bonded over faith and fatherhood, both are new dads, Nix at 26 and Tebow at 39, and you could tell Nix genuinely meant it when he told Tebow, “I don’t want football to be about me but about sharing the gospel.” The two will swap jerseys in person on Sept. 20 when Denver hosts the Jaguars in Week 2, Nix’s No. 10 for Tebow’s No. 15, each signed with a handwritten message on the back. Nix wrote: “Thank you for giving me someone to look up to. Thank you for being a friend now.” Tebow’s read: “Bo, your faith, determination and resilience are second to none. So proud of you. Your brother in Christ.”
It’s the kind of content that makes you proud to be a Broncos fan. Two quarterbacks separated by 13 years who took completely different paths to the same franchise, swapped playoff war stories and reminded everyone that no stadium on Earth does January football like Empower Field at Mile High. Now Nix opens the 2026 season Monday night against the Chiefs with one goal Tebow never reached: getting Denver to the Super Bowl.
