TV Home of the Colorado Rockies, AT&T SportsNet, Likely Going Away – Now What For the Team?

Sep 5, 2023, 4:56 PM

Not that the Colorado Rockies have really been worth watching on TV the last few seasons, but after their current campaign ends they’ll likely be without a TV home, at least for awhile.

According to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, the TV home of the Rockies will be turning off on Oct. 6, leaving the Rockies temporarily without a TV home. The 2023 season concludes on Oct. 1, by the way, so they will at least be able to finish this season on the network.

Could Colorado-owned Altitude be an option? Maybe, but we all know about their ongoing dispute with Comcast, so is that even the best option? The Rockies could also choose for MLB to take over the production of the games. However, the team would only get about 80 percent of the current rights fee they have in that scenario, and we all know that owner Dick Monfort probably won’t like that…

Stay tuned, but be prepared to find a new place to watch the Rockies next season.
