Denver, CO — When you read the lyrics “When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case, i could offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel my love,” whose voice would you hear in your head? Is it Bob Dylan?
There are several right answers and all would involve acknowledging the song to be “Make You Feel My Love”. Most commonly Adele and Billy Joel. Other voices include Garth Brooks, P!NK, Neil Diamond, Joan Osborne, Michael Buble and JJ Heller. However its origins trace back to a 1997 Bob Dylan album, “Time Out of Mind”.
Ironically “Make You Feel My Love” is considered a Bob Dylan “deep cut” but for some artists, the cover features on their greatest hits albums. The song lyrics, as most are, are up for interpretation. Consequently, remakes range from slow melodies to pop and jazz renditions.
Regardless of the genre that adopts the song, most covers rely on the piano just as Dylan did for this song. Dylan who is known as a great piano player never shied away from a melody, as a result his songs have become classics and will live forever in different forms and inspirations.
