Panera’s reading the room, and honestly… thank you. The fast-casual spot just announced a new value-focused option called “Mix & Match,” aimed straight at anyone who’s looked at a lunch receipt lately and thought, “How did a sandwich become a financial decision?”

Here’s how it works: Panera’s putting soups, salads, and sandwiches at $5 each, and you can pick two or more—up to all 10 options if you’re feeling ambitious. Every order also comes with a side choice: baguette, chips, or an apple, which is Panera’s way of saying, “We see you… and we respect your side priorities.”

The menu is built around smaller portions of Panera favorites, including half sandwiches like the Toasted Italiano, Toasted Caprese Focaccia, Bacon Turkey Bravo, and Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad, plus options like the Fuji Apple Chicken salad, Ranch Parm BLT, Caesar salad, and soup picks, too. Panera CMO Mark Shambura says the goal is lower prices without ditching the “thoughtfully sourced” ingredient thing—so basically: budget-friendly Panera, without feeling like you’re ordering the sad version.
