Ask anyone in Denver what the most famous hotel in town is, and you’ll likely hear the Brown Palace Hotel. The famous hotel will remain open, but its restaurant is closing.

After 74 years, the historic hotel is closing its Palace Arms restaurant.

The restaurant, located in the lobby of the downtown Denver hotel, will hold its last dinner service on Saturday, May 4, and be closed until further notice.

The decision is business-related and has to do with small turnouts.

The Palace Arms space will be used for private and special events.

Palace Arms originally opened in 1950, and until 2004, guests were required to dress up in suits and ties.

The Brown Palace’s other restaurants, Ellyngton’s, Ship Tavern and Churchill cigar bar, will remain open as usual.
