The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced it will host a landmark event on Sunday, June 14 with the Octagon set up on the South Lawn of the White House. The event is part of festivities marking the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. The coolest part about the event when it comes to Colorado is that one of the fighters in the main event is from our state!
Justin Gaethje is based out of Arvada, Colorado, and wrestled for the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He went on to earn the first Division I All-American honors in the program’s history, placing seventh in the 2010 nationals. He then went on to become a World Series of Fighting champion, and now sits as the interim UFC Lightweight Champion.
The White House fight will put the Colorado-based fighter’s belt on the line against Ilia Topuria. The fight won’t be an easy one for the hometown kid whose opponent is undefeated and according to FanDuel, is a huge -520 favorite over two-time interim champ Gaethje, who’s a +350 underdog.
Good luck to Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje in June. You can watch the fight on Paramount+.
