The highest continuous paved road in North America officially opened May 30.
The iconic Trail Ridge Road in Colorado has officially opened for the season after snowy, icy, and windy conditions prevented it from opening over Memorial Day weekend.
The popular route that connects Estes Park and Grand Lake closed last Oct. 18.
The 48-mile stretch of road reaches an elevation of 12,183 feet at its highest point, making high alpine tundra in the park accessible via vehicle.
Park visitors must make a reservation to use the road between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. More information about reservations is available at go.nps.gov/romo/timedentry.
