The Denver Broncos released new renderings of their new stadium, and it looks like they’re building a whole neighborhood

The Broncos don’t just want a new stadium. They want a zip code.

The team on Tuesday (Aug. 4) released updated master plan renderings for Burnham Yard, the 58-acre former railyard in La Alma Lincoln Park where Denver’s NFL franchise wants to build a retractable-roof stadium and an entire mixed-use neighborhood around it. The designs, developed with Denver-based Tryba Architects, carve the site into four distinct districts — North End, Village Center, Turntable and South End — complete with parks, pedestrian plazas, string lights and what appears to be the kind of walkable utopia your urbanist friend won’t shut up about.

The updated plans came after extensive community feedback, and the Broncos say they listened. New features include at least 11-12 football fields’ worth of public green space, the elimination of the 11th Avenue traffic crossing to improve pedestrian safety and a “Turntable Green” that preserves the site’s historic railroad turntable as a centerpiece of the park system.

The renderings will be shared at upcoming Citizens Advisory Committee and community meetings, and designs will keep evolving based on coordination with RTD, Denver Water and the city. The Broncos have promised to build the stadium without public funding, though hundreds of millions in infrastructure dollars have already been earmarked for the surrounding area. Team president Damani Leech said Saturday the club is still targeting a 2031 opening, but warned the timeline could slip if the community benefits agreement process doesn’t pick up speed.
