Something New is Finally Moving Into That Old Sears Grand Store off of I25 in Thornton

Apr 28, 2023, 5:01 PM

Growing up my dad loved Sears. In fact I think 99% of my clothes growing up came from there. So when they announced they were opening one of their big one’s, the Sears Grand stores in Colorado we were all pumped. Sadly, it didn’t last as long as we would’ve liked, but the building is finally getting a new tenant.

In October 2005, the 200,000-square-foot Sears Grand store opened at I-25 and Hwy 7 in Thornton. It was just the 7th of this new Sears model, and it had everything a normal Sears would have and a lot more.

The Colorado location went out of business in 2021, and has sat empty ever since.

In May 2022, about a year after Sears Grand closed its doors, the California-based furniture and home accessories chain Living Spaces purchased the building for $13 million, per the Adams County property records. The company plans two Colorado locations by the end of 2023.

There’s no word on when the Thornton location will open to the public yet.
